This competition aims to transform the surrounding outdoor spaces for Bad Langensalza Congress Center. In order to meet the competition objectives, was developed a solution that ensures a dynamic and flexible space usage. Different functions are now possible in the same place - the square of Jahnplatz is adapted to accommodate with quality conditions several temporary activities (fair, market, concerts, parking, etc). The character of this public space for resting and leisure activities is maintained, and to ensure the notion of unity several complementary solutions were developed together.
It is proposed a new road design for Mühlhäuser Straße with the inclusion of a roundabout at Thamsbrücker Straße with Waidweg cross, and a detour point to take and drop passengers near the Congress Centre. The pavements and vegetation were worked in order to highlight the building's main entrance.
The Biergarten’s area is designed to include a terrace with the capacity for 192 seated people, and will take in an area for a stage and an open space for a dance floor and a Bierwagen.
On the opposite side of Jahnstraße (the road that goes along south the Congress Centre) is proposed the extension of the existing sport’s playground, followed by the placement of concrete surfaces (pyramids) with recreational functions, taking advantage of the site topography. In continuation of this space is located a new car parking(90 lots), plus two walk paths (one along the Jahnstraße, and other along the old city wall).
