Cartography of visual analysis for Kairouan, Kasserine, Sidi Bouzid and Gafsa Freeway

Project Data

Environmental Studies / Preliminary Study
Client: COBA/SCET Tunisie
Location: Tunisia
Year: 2012
Area: 54 000 m²
Corridor: 850 km

In colaboration with COBA - Engineering and Environmental Consultants were performed studies, based on geographic information systems, to define the optimal corridor in the implementation of a freeway in Kairouan, Kasserine, Sidi Bouzid and Gafsa. For this work were produced maps of analysis that focused on a territory with an area of 54,000 km ². Were subsequently checked for a buffer of 3,000 m along the 850 km in study, data concerning the Visual Quality, Visual Fragility and Landscape Sensitivity.

At this stage of preliminary draft for the evaluation of proposed corridors, and for each studied parameter, were applied calculation tools over the areas of influence. Consequently, and based on produced statistical data were defined the classification criteria for each analyzed parameter. Through the resulting numerical information were obtained maps with visual representation for each solution and characterize accurately the corridors analyzed.
